Relationships are formed when two individuals decide to commit to each other. Movies portray a grand romance, where love overcomes an initial set of obstacles, then at the final credits, it is implied that the couples live happily ever after. We question why our relationships are so difficult, questioning if we have made the right decision. It shouldn't be this hard! Disney has a lot to answer for in overestimating the power of fate and love. Instagram and TikTok do not help the matter when everywhere we look, we see polished couples appearing to be in sync with their coordinating outfits and tight dance choreography. What have we done wrong, and what are we missing? The answer is in the first line of the paragraph, relationships are formed when two individuals decide to commit to each other. You are individuals with your individual beliefs, values and ways of thinking. In the years you grow together, you may grow at different rates and, at times, in different directions. There will always be milestones and hurdles to overcome and work through.
