Raewyn Berkahn
Counsellor
Raewyn has a Bachelor of Counselling and is provisionally registered with New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). She has an interest in people’s stories and works within a person-centred, narrative therapy approach, which honours a person’s story. She partners with them to work on the next steps in their life journey. She has a heart for listening to the stories of those not usually heard – children, older adults, rainbow community members, and the disabled. She has worked with children and adults, with experience in working with families and couples. Some of the areas she has worked in are grief, self-esteem, self-harm, separation/divorce, relationship issues with a partner/family/friends, separation of parents, blended families, and anger issues.
Raewyn is the Student Coordinator, supporting student counsellors who are training at Kōwhai Therapeutic Services. She draws on her extensive experience in the Early Childhood Education sector as a teacher, a manager, and as an Associate Teacher supporting student teachers, for this role.
Outside of counselling, Raewyn enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking along the Petone foreshore (or anywhere else where there’s a sea or river), playing the guitar (not well!), and reading.
