Christopher Check
Student Counsellor
Christopher is a second-year student currently training in counselling and addiction. He is interested in learning how to support people in ways that are respectful, thoughtful, and grounded in real human experience.
A quote that has long guided Christopher comes from poet Rainer Maria Rilke: “Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.” For him, this reflects a way of understanding life — that he does not strive to hold onto positive experiences or avoid difficult ones, but instead works on developing the resilience to cope with challenges and the awareness to fully notice, appreciate, and participate in moments of ease and joy as they arise.
This perspective shapes how Christopher approaches learning, relationships, and life more broadly, with curiosity, humility, and an openness to what each new day may bring. He often reflects that laughter and time in nature might be prescribed more often if they could be patented.
